Changsha will install 8,000 charging facilities for electric vehicles (EVs) between 2018 and 2020 to meet the increasing demand, according to an implementation plan recently issued by Changsha Development and Reform Commission.

3,000 will be built across the city this year, in the move to combat air pollution from motor vehicle emissions.

According to incomplete statistics, Changsha currently has more than 50,000 EVs running on its roads, but construction of charging facilities is lagging behind.

As of the end of 2017, the city had a total of 8,472 charging facilities (charging posts) and 568 charging stations.
