Media arts festival, youth forum open

The 2018 Changsha Media Arts Festival and International Youth Forum: Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Road opened in Changsha on May 20.

A series of themed activities were staged during the four-day event, including a youth forum on creativity and heritage along the Belt and Road, a digital fireworks show and a music festival on the Juzi Isle, international youth gatherings, an intangible cultural heritage art exhibition, a media art photography exhibition, exploring Changsha and opening of Changsha Tongguan Kiln Site Museum.

The event aims to showcase Changsha's progress in media arts and creative cultural industry and deepen the cultural exchange and cooperation between the city and countries along the Belt and Road.

It was jointly hosted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA), China National Commission for UNESCO and Changsha Municipal People's Government.

Changsha, which is well-known as one of the most culturally creative cities in China, was the first Chinese city to Join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a city of media arts in November 2017. It was also awarded the 2017 Culture City of East Asia in 2016.
