Xiangjiang Pavilion, which is modeled after Aiwan Pavilion, one of China's top four pavilions, set off on its journey to the United States after an unveiling ceremony held in Changsha on May 4.

The pavilion was a gift from Yanghu Wetland Park in Changsha, Hunan Province to Phalen Regional Park in St. Paul, Minnesota State in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Changsha-St. Paul sister-city ties.

The pavilion will permanently settle in the St. Paul-Changsha China Friendship Garden.

A series of exchanges in various areas, including high-level visits, urban construction, culture and arts, and youth exchanges, have been carried out between Changsha and St. Paul since the two cities established sister-city ties in 1988.

In 2015, the two parks became sister parks and agreed to be home of exchanged gifts with each city's special features.

In late April, St. Paul sent Changsha five statues based on American cartoonist Charles Schulz's famous Peanuts characters.
