Hunan Province received a total of 11.64 million tourists during the three-day Tomb-sweeping Day holiday, with its tourism revenue hitting 7.15 billion yuan (US$1.12 billion), according to the Tourism Development Commission of Hunan.

During the period between April 5 and April 7, 12 out of the province's 14 cities and prefectures reported tourism revenue of more than 300 million yuan (US$46.88 million), respectively. Changsha alone raked in 1.37 billion yuan (US$214.06 million).

Red tourism and rural ecological tourism are increasingly popular and road trips become a mainstay in the market.

The Tomb-sweeping Day, or Qingming Festival, is an important traditional Chinese festival when people commemorate their departed loved ones.

This year's Tomb-sweeping Day falls on April 5.
