Hunan's industrial economy got off to a good start in the first two months of 2018, with the value added of its industrial enterprises above designated size growing by 8.1 percent year-on-year, according to data recently released by Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics.

The figure is 0.8 percentage points higher than that of 2017 and 1.8 percentage points higher than the same period of 2017.

Among the three major industrial categories, manufacturing, as well as production and supply of electricity, heating, gas and water, witnessed rapid growth, with value added and growth rate higher than the same period of 2017.

32 out of 39 major industries saw a year-on-year increase in value added. Industries, including tobacco, auto manufacturing, computer communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing, witnessed a dramatic increase in value added, with each of them contributing more than ten percent to the growth of the provincial industrial enterprises above designated size.

Quality of industrial economy was also improved, which is mainly reflected in the fact that growth of value added for high-processing and high-tech industrial enterprises above designated size was obviously faster than the provincial average, while the proportion of cumulative value added of high energy-consuming industry in the provincial total dropped by 0.6 percentage points year on year.
