Hunan Museum will open three new themed exhibition halls this year to offer its audiences a window into Hunan Province's long history and unique culture, said the museum's director Duan Xiaoming at a museum directors' forum recently held in the provincial capital Changsha.

The three halls will focus on exhibition of ceramic art, artworks of Qi Baishi, a renowned Chinese painter and Guqin, an ancient Chinese musical instrument, respectively.

During this year's seven-day Spring Festival holiday, the museum received more than 110,000 visitors, with the highest number hitting over 24,000 in a single day, a new record for Hunan's museums.

The museum reopened on Nov. 29, 2017 after over five years of renovation.
