Five cities from Hunan Province in Central China edged into the top 100 best cities for business on the Chinese mainland, according to a report recently released by Forbes China, the Chinese-language edition of Forbes.

Changsha, the capital city of Hunan, ranked 15th on the list. The other four cities are Zhuzhou (77th), Liuyang (87th), Chenzhou (89th) and Yueyang (93rd). It is the first time that Liuyang appeared among the ranking.

Changsha performed well in terms of talent index, spending power and dynamism of private economy.

The top ten on the list include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Suzhou, Qingdao and Hangzhou.

The ranking, initiated in 2004, evaluates the business environment and development potential of cities on the Chinese mainland in terms of eight dimensions, including talent index, urban size, spending power, passenger transport, freight transport, dynamism of private economy, operating cost and innovation capacity.
