Changsha's airport saw around 2.39 million entry-exit personnel in 2017, up 11.2 percent over 2016, the Changsha Border Inspection Station said on Jan. 6.

A total of 14,700 flights were handled at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport, up 6 percent.

The two figures both break the record.

Currently, the airport operates more than 300 regular international flights per week. In 2017, it launched 14 new international air routes linking cities including Cairo, Aswan, Moscow and Kalibo. The number of international cities connected rose from 25 by the end of 2016 to 39 by the end of 2017, up 56 percent.

The top three international destinations for Chinese mainland residents passing through the port are Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, and foreign passengers entering China via the port are mainly from South Korea, Thailand and Malaysia.
