Construction on the IKEA Changsha LIVAT Complex kicked off in the city's Yanghu Ecological New Town on November 28.

The project, known as IKEA's first urban commercial complex in China, will have an Ikea store, a LIVAT Center, office buildings, creative apartments and hotel.

IVAT, a new shopping center brand developed by IKEA Centres, a subsidiary of the world's biggest furniture retailer IKEA, has opened three megamalls in Chinese cities of Wuxi, Beijing and Wuhan.

The complex, with a planned construction area of around 400,000 square meters, involves an investment of about 4 billion yuan.

The complex is expected to open for business by 2020.

IKEA Centres plans to have 13 to 15 LIVAT Centers in China by 2030, said Ding Hui, president of Ikea Centres China.
