Foreign trade volume hits 189.28 bln yuan

Hunan's foreign trade volume rose 52.2 percent year on year to reach 189.28 billion yuan (US$28.25 billion) in the first ten months of the year, according to figures from the provincial customs.


Customs data showed that exports were 122.09 billion yuan(US$ 18.22 billion), up 48.8 percent, while imports stood at 67.19 billion yuan (US$10 billion), up 58.6 percent.


Electromechanical products dominated Hunan's exports and exports of new and high-tech products continued to surge. During the period between January and October, exports of electromechanical products hit 57.03 billion yuan (US$8.51 billion), up 61.2 percent, accounting for 46.7 percent of the provincial total.


The main imports included electromechanical products and new and high-tech products.


During this period, Hunan's trade volume with its major trading partners, including Hong Kong, the United States, Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), remained growth to different extents.


Private enterprises played a dominant role, accounting for more than 60 percent of Hunan's total imports and exports.
