Xiangjiang Cup Int'l Regatta to kick off

Hundreds of sailboats will compete on the Xiangjiang River in Changsha, capital city of Hunan province, at 2015 Xiangjiang Cup International Regatta running from June 20 to 21.

Themed with 'Happy Changsha, Charming Xiangjiang,' The event is sponsored by the Chinese Yachting Association, the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau, the Hunan Provincial Tourism Bureau, and Changsha Municipal Government in cooperation with the Changsha Tourism Bureau and the Changsha Sports Bureau.

There are two sailing competitions: a rally race and a track race. The rally will start at Orange Isle dock and finish at the Yuxiang Cotton Mill marina with a course of 12.5 kilometer.

In the Du Fu Pavilion, you can enjoy a bird's eye view of Orange Isle, overlook the picturesque Yuelu Mountain and appreciate the amazing landscape of Changsha. [File photo]

The track race will be along the west bank from south of Juzizhoutou to north of Houzishi Bridge. The track will pass through nearly 30 scenic spots including Hunan First Normal University, Tianxin Pavilion, Du Fu Pavilion and Yuelu Mountain.

Nearly 400 participants have already enrolled, including competitors from China’s national and provincial teams, and sailors, security personnel and technical officers from eight countries and regions including France, United Kingdom and Belgium.
