Zhangjiajie

Zhangjiajie, one of the most famous tourist cities in the countrry, is located in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, about 265 kilometers to the northwest of Changsha.

Zhangjiajie is known for its beautiful forests, odd-shaped rock formations, exquisite canyons, limestone caves, and panoramic views.

The best scenic spots are situated in the northern part of the city, including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Wulingyuan, Tianmen Mountain, Huanglong Cave, Baofeng Lake and Suoxi Valley.

The film Avatar, with its Zhangjiajie-esque scenes, makes the destination even more popular among tourists nowadays.

Getting there:

By air: Zhangjiajie is connected by direct flights with some major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Nanjing, Tianjin and Shenyang.

By train: Get to Zhangjiajie by train (6 hours) or flight (1 hour) from Changsha. Trains to Zhangjiajie are also available from Yichang (5 hours), Guangzhou (13 hours), Shenzhen (18 hours), and Liuzhou (12 hours).
